Gandhi Jayanti celebrated in Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University
KMCUAFU, Lucknow:Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the University premises on 2nd October, 2014 (Thursday). Floral tributes were also offered to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the second Prime Minister of India.
While addressing the audience, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Khan Masood Ahmad said that no society can exist without the minimum acceptance of truth and non – violence. Drawing the attention of the students towards the basic rules of conduct for all human beings living in the society, he pointed out that if individuals learn to keep their promises, it is truth and if they aim towards progress without causing undue harm to other members of the society, it is non – violence. Prof. Khan also underlined the values of simplicity and honesty by citing various examples from the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The University students, Sumbul ( MJC Ist Year), ………….and Furqan Alam ( B.A II nd Year) paid tribute to the great national leader through their speeches while Mazid Ali ( B.A IInd Year) added a melodious note to the program by his song ‘Ragupati Raghav Raja Ram’. The University Registrar, Dr. Nazim Hussain Al – Jafri underlined the importance of Gandhian principles and delivered the vote of thanks. This was followed by a cleanliness drive initiated by the Vice Chancellor who further urged everyone to work earnestly towards keeping the campus and the city clean. The program was coordinated by Dr. Neeraj Shukla and convened by Dr. Tanu Dang. It was well attended by the faculty members, university staff and students.
